  1. The script files in this archive are designed to utilize the advanced        
  2. features of the repective modems.  The assumption is that the user wants
  3. maximum throughput and the highest level of firmware error-correction 
  4. available.

  6. One thing to be aware of: all these script files turn on the modem's 
  7. hardware flow control option (RTS/CTS).  This is desirable in all cases
  8. with one important exception, shelling to DOS out of Host Mode.  If you
  9. have one of these modems attached to the Host machine and you plan to 
  10. let callers shell to DOS, make sure to send the Host modem the command to
  11. turn hardware flow control off.  The reason is that DOS does not respond
  12. to the state of the RTS/CTS lines.  If the modem were to lower CTS while 
  13. the user was in DOS, the operating system may hang with an "ERROR WRITING   
  14. DEVICE COMx" message.
